This weeks offering is high up in the category of "fastest bike on a budget".

The bang for buck factor is insane. Its as spinal tap said "goes up to 11"!

I couldn't quite believe it when I spotted it and checked over the advert, "there must be a catch I said to myself".

Sure, there are probably ones out there in better condition and yet this one seemingly had no glaringly obvious battle scars or broken parts. Yes, I know the vendor mentions a dubious modification that was apparently all the rage during this bikes heyday and there maybe an underlying issue there but... a Fireblade for under £1500. I think I have to say that again for it to settle in..... A FIREBLADE FOR UNDER £1500!!

The philosophy behind Honda's design of the Fireblade was proven

technology in a lightweight package. Certainly the reason it was so successful wasn't that reason it was so successful wasn't that it was more powerful than its competitors but that it was lighter, had a much better power to weight ratio and was nimble and agile. Some people at the time said it was even dangerous. Of course it wasn't it was just miles more

flick-able than any superbike had been before.

This one is the 918cc model which came out in 1998 and was blessed with

a 128bhp inline 4 cylinder.

It always generated enough power right through the rev range in any gear.

It even had character which is something you cant say of many inline four cylinder engines. Its weight only being 185kg really being the key to the Fireblade's performance, all its rivals were over performance, all its rivals were over 200kg at the time. Even though the performance, all its rivals were over 200kg at the time. Even though the Fireblade was sharp, aggressive and light it was surprisingly comfortable,

with a decent seat and riding position.

Adequate under seat storage for this type of motorcycle and even good for pillions, especially with a grab rail added (which this one has fitted).

Ok, so its got a few scratches and scrapes, but with 35,500ish miles on the clock there's plenty of life left in her yet!

Winter is coming as they say, so could always use the bad weather as an

excuse to do some tidying. Any way..... here it is. Ill say it again. A 918cc Fireblade for less than £1500!!
