Hello lovers of bargain motorcycles, I think we have out done ourselves this time with a big bike that can be all things to all men (and women). The FZS 1000 Fazer!

This example is high mileage but this just proves how bomb-proof a bike it can be. I'm sure other examples can be found that dip into our theoretical price limit but at the time of writing this article this one is the one found.
It looks in good condition for its mileage. I'm sure things like the forks could benefit from a change of oil and and a good check of head bearings would be needed. However, if its been well looked after I'm sure it would carry well looked after I'm sure it would carry on to be a blisteringly fast motorcycle able to handle anything from a weekend scratch (don't push the suspension to hard tho as its no race bike) to a tour around Europe.
This bikes main attraction for many is that power plant, a de-tuned R1 lump that puts out 143bhp and nearly 80ft lbs of torque. Its not all bottom end torque as might be expected from a detuned motor, it still rewards with a top end rush.

This example benefits from an aftermarket can so you can make the most of the four cyl noise from the R1 lump.
These big Fazer's are so rapid and capable they developed something of a cult following. Owners soon realising with a few tweaks they could keep up, and best, most machines on the road. When it was released in 2000 the motorcycle journalists moaned it wasn't the mental stunt bike they wanted. So when yamaha replaced the FZS 1000 with the next version they tried to listen to these reviews and made it more "sporty". The FZ1 was the result, it had a smaller tank, snatchy throttle and was much less comfortable. So this version of the big Fazer is widely regarded as the best of the breed.
We would love to hear of your experiences with your own Fazer 1000's if you have ever owned or ridden one.
