Triumph Sprint RS Budget Bike

This week at budget bike office with the weather not being great something a little more practical has been appealing. This Triumph Sprint RS has tickled our fancy!

Yes it does look a little like a curvy sv650, but its not as if that's a bad looking bike! This particular one looks great I think and we really like the colour, it looks in fantastic condition, and again shows that you can get a well looked after bike for not very much money!

This Triumph of course has the 955cc triple, that glorious engine! An engineering work of art, its so under stressed so will go on for ever given the right care. Yet these things on a nice pipe sound like the Norse god himself! In this spec the engine is producing 118bhp and 74ft-lb of torque which is enough to make this a "sporty" sports tourer.

It is built to a budget so came with a simpler swing arm rather than the single sider put on the more up-market ST version. Although it does have sharper geometry for faster, more nimble handling and firmer suspension. But the only niggle to these eyes is the fact the only way to adjust the damping in the forks is by changing the oil. Which I suppose most sprints rs' could do with by now anyway, so a chance to go for a heavier oil to firm up the damping a bit.

That engine tho is the jewel in the crown, plenty of power and torque an bags and bags of character! Have I mentioned the noise? Can be confusing coming from a 4cyl onto one of these, accidentally ending up a gear or two too low and bouncing off the rev limiter.

These bikes offer great value for money, it may not handle quite as well as a vfr800 but it has a far better engine. And being a triumph madenin Britain they understand British weather, so the finish and quality of these is great and durable.

You don't get a great deal of equipment but there were lots of options available from triumph when new from fully fitted hard luggage to race exhaust systems.

So here is this weeks budget bike and we here think its a beauty!
